Atlanta Restaurant Guide – Breakfast/Brunch Spots

If you are someone who knows me personally, you know that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! On the weekends or during summer break, I love to try new breakfast/brunch spots in and around the city! All of the spots I have selected below have entrees at very affordable prices between $15-$20, which was the most common range that my Instagram followers said they felt comfortable spending for a meal. This is a dynamic list that will be added to as I continue to try more places around Atlanta!

#1 – Poco Loco, Kirkwood

Located near the East Lake Marta Station, Poco Loco is a small undercover storefront that looks unassuming from the outside. Each week, Poco Loco comes out with a new menu that gets posted Wednesday morning. They only have two small tables for seating outdoors so many times people take it to go. The consistent piece of the menu are two burrito options, one non-vegetarian and the other vegetarian, that provides options for everyone.

My Experience:

One day, my coworker brought Poco Loco breakfast burritos to school one day and since then my husband and I have become obsessed. My husband loves their meat burritos and we truly come here once a week because we love the variety in their menu. All of their burritos come with a delicious side of salsa of homemade salsa. We also love snagging some fresh tortillas and sides for dinners during the week.

Cost: $$

Their burritos cost $8 and their specialty or side items range from $8 – $17.

Parking:

There is free parking is located around the side and back of the building.

#2: Murphy’s, Virginia Highlands

Located in the heart of Virginia Highlands, this staple doesn’t miss a beat on their brunch game. They have more of the traditional brunch items like crab cakes Benedict and French toast.

My Experience:

Compared to the first few places, Murphy’s has a more traditional feel and vibe. They do take reservations on OpenTable and it is actually required for brunch on the weekends. No walk-ins are allowed, so plan to make those reservations at least two weeks in advance!

Cost: $$

Their brunch items range from $14 – $20.

Parking:

Murphy’s has valet parking on site, but you could also park on the street as well. North Highland Ave has paid parking. Virginia Ave, Maryland Ave, and Vance Ave all have free street parking.

#3: Julianna’s Crepes, Inman Park

I actually heard about Julianna’s Crepes from a Tik Tok video and never realized it was so close to me. Tucked into the Inman Park neighborhood, this hidden gem is right past the famous Krog Street Market.

My Experience:

With a mix of savory and sweet crepes you will find your perfect match. Their Red Gold crepe is what they are most famous for, but I also personally enjoyed the Sweet Spot. Julianna’s has indoor seating  for about 10-15 people and a few outdoor tables as well.

Cost: $

Each crepe ranges from $9 – $15.

Parking:

Free street parking is available off Lake Avenue and the surrounding side streets.

#4: Bread and Butterfly, Inman Park

This breakfast spot speaks to my French loving soul! The decor and the vibe bring you right back to Europe! Their menu is very simplistic as well, especially for those who aren’t huge breakfast people. Opening at 10AM which is a little later than most places, I recommend you get there early as the overall space is quaint and minimal. They don’t take reservations and you need to make sure everyone in your group is there when you walk up!

My Experience:

Bread and Butterfly offers light pastries as well as classic breakfast dishes. I always order a poached egg on toast with greens and depending on the day I’ll change up the toppings. Their pancake is a must order. It is large so share it with a friend but it is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with the perfect amount of butter and syrup.

Cost: $$

Items range from $4 – $17 for their breakfast menu.

Parking:

You can park for free on North Highland, but Elizabeth Street and Lake Ave have free parking as well.

#5: Atlanta Breakfast Club, Downtown

If you are looking for the traditional All-American breakfast, this is your spot. Located right next to the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta, Atlanta Breakfast Club has it all.  They don’t take reservations, but when it gets busy on the weekends you can join the Yelp Waitlist. You can join the waitlist if you are within 6 miles of the restaurant so join it when you are on your way!

My Experience:

We enjoyed Atlanta Breakfast Club when my family came into town. It was a great spot for everyone to order the sweet or savory dishes they desired. I chose the breakfast bowl with pork sausage. Cheese grits are one of my favorite things so I love it is the base for this dish.

Cost: $$

Their breakfast dishes range from $10 – $20.

Parking:

Free parking is available at the back near Mills street or on Centennial Olympic Park Drive.

#6: Haven, Brookhaven

This restaurant is a throwback to my time living in Brookhaven and it is lovely! You can make your reservations online at OpenTable about a week out for a small group.

My Experience:

Haven is a little more fancy than the other places on this list, but I do think it is a perfect spot to celebrate a birthday or to start off a weekend. You must get the beignets as they are a staple!

Cost: $$

Their dishes range from $12 – $26.

Parking:

Haven has parking right behind the building or you can park on the side streets like Apalacchee or Canoochee.

#7: Sun in My Belly, Kirkwood

Sun in My Belly has an indoor and outdoor space pending on the weather. They are popular and for good reason, so if you get there between 10-11AM expect a wait. You can always grab a coffee, tea, or pastry at the counter while you wait.

My Experience:

My sister just bought a house less than a half a mile from Sun in My Belly and it now gives me even more excuses to come visit! I always get the Kirkwood Breakfast with a side of cheese grits because they are top five in the city.

Cost: $$

Their breakfast entrees range form $12 – $16 and they do serve alcoholic beverages.

Parking:

Sun in My Belly has limited parking behind their building, but your best bet is to do street parking in the neighborhood. If you head down Murray Hill you should be able to find some open spots

#8: Base Camp, Kennesaw

This next spot is way out yonder near Kennesaw Mountain, but it is the best spot to relax after a hike! Base Camp used to be a smaller building, but they’ve since re-built and re-vamped it for additional space and ambiance!

My Experience:

They have every type of southern food under the sun, but the biscuits are my favorite. They have an order at the couter first then sit down system which is good to know before you go. Their weekday menu has less items than their weekend one.

Cost: $$

Base Camp’s items range from $7 – $16.

Parking:

Base Camp has a parking lot right behind their building to park at.

#9: Muchacho, Reynoldstown

This Reynoldstown staple has an upgraded indoor space and they are currently under construction for their outdoor spaces. Muchacho gets quite busy on the weekends and has a system where you order at the counter and then they bring it out to you – if the line is out the door, expect about 20 or so minutes until you order. The food does come out pretty quickly.

My Experience:

They are within walking distance from me (which is a blessing and a curse). I’ve enjoyed the Johnny Utah burrito, but be forewarned that it leans heavily on eggs. I also loved their chai tea latte.

Cost: $$

Muchacho’s food ranges from $4.50 for tacos to $9 for burritos and $10 for toasts.

Parking:

Muchacho has parking behind their location, but it is limited. You can easily park in the Madison yards parking lot and walk over as well.

#10: Hell Yeah Gluten Free, Inman Park

Located right off Dekalb Ave, Hell Yeah Gluten Free rotates their menu every few months, but they always have breakfast biscuits and donuts. Since Hell Yeah is a small operation, they don’t have any indoor seating but you can pop over to Victory C.C. to snag a coffee and enjoy your food there.

My Experience:

I am obsessed with this breakfast spot – I am not even gluten free but it is just that good! Hell Yeah has the best and biggest breakfast biscuits that will fill out up. I usually pair my biscuit with a donut or one of their other sweet treats in their case.

Cost: $$

Hell Yeah’s breakfast biscuits cost $10 while their donuts cost $4 and other items range form $5 – $7 pending on what’s new.

Parking:

Hell Yeah Gluten Free has a parking lot right in front and it does get busy on the weekends, but if you are patient you can find a spot when others are leaving! If need be, you can park at Waverly Way and walk.

#11: Little Tarte, Grant Park

Little Tarte has three different locations: Krog Street Market, Grant Park and Summerhill. Each of these locations is filled with delicious pastries and breakfast sandwiches to satisfy your breakfast needs. They are very affordable and made fresh every day. You can put in a pre-order to save time waiting in line.

My Experience:

When I went recently it was for the start of a friends bachelorette party. We each ordered our own items then went out side at the Grant Park location to find more seating. I enjoyed this delicious strawberry tarte and a chai tea latte.

Cost: $

Little Tarte’s items range from $4.50 – $7.

Parking:

At Krog Street Market, I recommend using the side streets for free. In Grant Park, they have a parking lot next to the location as well as street parking. For Summerhill, side street parking is available as well.

#12: Emerald City Bagels, East Atlanta Village

Emerald City is close is the closest things to a New York City bagel in Atlanta. Emerald City gets very busy on the weekends and makes everything fresh so expect a 20-30 minute wait if you order in person. You can order online and pick up to save time.

My Experience:

The first time I went to Emerald City Bagels I got a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese and jelly. It didn’t hit the spot and I felt like I ordered the wrong thing. The second time I went I ordered a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese, egg, avocado and a meat.  It tasted a lot better than the first one but it also took twice as long to make with very minimal people in the restaurant.

Cost: $

A classic bagel with cream cheese is $5 but they can price up to $15 for their specialty bagels.

Parking:

Emerald City has a small parking lot behind the building but street parking or out front is your best bet.

#13: Hen Mothers Cookhouse, Johns Creek

This spot has been on my list since Heather McMann and Pretty Little It Girl shared it years ago. It is located in Alpharetta but is worth the drive. It gets very crowded on the weekends so I recommend a weekday or ordering take out. Since they are a popular spot, they have some strict guidelines about parties, checks and times you should read before you go.

My Experience:

Their menu changes regularly based off fresh produce so follow their Instagram for updates. When I visited back in June, I ordered a simple breakfast with eggs, potato and a fluffy pancake on the side. If you are craving savory, order the pancake to go!

Cost: $$

Hen Mother’s items range from $8.50 – $16 for their items.

Parking:

Hen Mothers Cookhouse has a full free parking lot right out front.

#14: Home Grown, Reynoldstown

Located in Reynoldstown, this local spot is a southern girls dream. They have all the classics on their menu from chicken and waffles to biscuits and gravy. Home Grown prides themselves on some of the freshest ingredients to share with their neighborhood.

My Experience:

We visited on a Friday and it was quite busy but the line moved very fast. I ordered the basic breakfast with scrambled eggs and toast. Their grits didn’t blow me away but we loved eating my friend hot steak biscuit.

Cost: $$

Home Grown’s menu items range from $7 for a half order to $20 for entrees.

Parking:

Home Grown has a free lot next to their location. You can also park in Madison Yards and walk over if it is full.

#15: Petit Chou

This French named spot stole my heart when driving down Memorial one day. Imagine a mix of French classics but with southern charm and you get Petit Chou. They are opened for breakfast and dinner in their intimate location.

My Experience:

I ordered the Croque Madame which was fantastic. The only downside to the meal for me is the side salad and pico de gallo equivalent which I personally didn’t love eating in the morning but you might.

Cost: $$

Petit Chou breakfast entrees range from $10 – $16.

Parking:

Petit Chou has a small parking lot in the front that fills up quickly. I recommend parking on Powell or Tye and walking if it is full.

#16: Park Grounds

Located in Reynoldstown, this spot is perfect for someone who works from home with their dog. They have an outdoor space for your leashed dog to get in all the smells while you enjoy their coffee and food.

My Experience:

Their breakfast burrito was so filling I had to take half of it home but it was delicious. I would love it if they had stakes or something for me to tie my dog to while I go inside and order. Since converting it I don’t think they have considered that part.

Cost: $

Park Grounds entrees range from $5.25 – $9.50.

Parking:

Park Grounds doesn’t have a designated parking lot but there is plenty of street parking surrounding it.

I hope this list gives you a starting point of some fantastic breakfast/brunch spots around the city of Atlanta! As I continue to visit and try more places I love, this list will be updated! Comment with a breakfast spot below that you think is worthy of adding to our collection!
