The Last Minute GlobeTrotter Gift Guide

It’s the holiday season, which means it’s time for the gift-giving season. Any holiday you are celebrating, these simple gifts would help out any traveler in your life. Last year’s blog post was a great hit so their year I wanted to share my lists again! Here are my top picks:

#1 Clear Makeup/Toiletry Bag:

For those who love to travel frequently, it is a huge hassle to take out your liquids, makeup, etc. at every single airport. Some airports make you do it and you want to make it move as swiftly as possible. This bag not only allows this but also makes finding your items on the go easy as well!

#2: Portable Luggage System:

I haven’t jumped on the packing cubes train, but I love this system because I can hang it wherever I am traveling too. I think this system is great for men and women who need to bring nicer pieces for a travel occasion. It prevents the clothes from getting too wrinkled or ruined in the packing process. This is perfect for a weekend wedding or business trip. It is quite small so this won’t work as well for longer trips!

#3: Cable/Cord Wrappers

There is nothing I hate more when traveling than trying to find my cords all tangled in my backpack. I always need to get that last-minute juice before I jump onto a flight. I love that it comes in different colors, but the best part is it is only $6 for the largest size. This is a perfect stocking stuffer and everyone has a phone to charge!

#4: Wet Brush

This was the best investment I have ever made in my traveling. In many places you travel to, it is very difficult to have access to modern hair amenities like a hairdryer or straighter. You need to make sure when your hair dries naturally it looks decent. This brush helps with that 100% due to its soft bristles. Getting out of the shower in a hostel or rain or wind, this brush can detangle your hair in a heart-beat. I promise once you get it, you won’t go back to a normal bush again.

#5: “SheEmergengy” Kit

Last year on my gift guide I mentioned a sort of emergency kit with things like hand wipes and hand sanitizer to have on you, but I found this amazing kit just for girls. Yes the $40 does seem like a lot but if you wanted to make this on your own it would be really hard to buy these things in small quantities. But like this says it’s only for emergencies and if you are internationally traveling or have a family of teenagers/ college kids this would be perfect to have “just in case.” The nail polish remover, lip balm, brushes, and static remover are just darn brilliant.

#6: Jewelry Roll Bag

If you are trying to look cute while on the go, you know that earrings and necklaces are the perfect way to complete any outfit. But, packing those items can be such a hassle to pack, and especially they get tangled up by the time you get to your destination. I know I’ve either shoved mine into a random pocket in a backpack, or tried to put it in a box, but they are never organized nicely. This roll bag has the perfect amount of compartments and folds up nice and tightly into a small and compact amount of space for your next trip.

#7: Luggage/Jacket Strap

When traveling you never have enough hands or space for anything, especially for that jacket while shuffling around to get your boarding pass. This strap is great to have that jacket slung over or attach your purse/backpack to your luggage for a hot second. The best part is this handy product only costs $8!

#8: Mobile Wireless Hotspot

Have a family member traveling to a “remote” location coming up and afraid of losing contact? Traveling for the first time solo and always that person getting lost? This company provides you a mobile wifi hotspot while you travel for only $9 a day. If someone goes on a week vacation it’s around a $50 gift and they will love it.

#9: Solid Travel Backpack

Recently this year I bought a new backpack and I have nothing but great things to rave about with the Osprey brand. They have all different types of packs that can cater to your needs pending if you want a smaller or larger pack. I love this Nebula day pack using it all year and it has so many pockets to stuff all the things for a weekend trip to Denver and used it to hike in Banff as well. The straps for back support have been great and really helpful during those long hikes. It’s expensive but totally worth the investment! Check out their water packs and large backpacks as well.

#10: Spa on the Plane Pack

I am hoping on a 17-hour flight to Australia next year and I don’t think I have fully prepared myself for it yet, but if anyone else is like me, after getting off a plane all I want to do is take a shower. But I’ve recently seen many people putting face masks on a plane not only to relax on maybe the most stressful part of traveling. This little kit is perfect because it includes all the basics like the face masks and the under-eye one to make sure you like nice and bright to get touring right after you hop off the plane.

#11: Favorite City Maps:

Wanting to remind someone of the special place they traveled to, they lived, they met someone? Well, do it by getting them a beautiful map! This has a print and is very affordable, and my tip is to always go to Goodwill and buy a frame on the cheap and it’s a great gift!

#12: Favorite City Glasses

If maps aren’t really your thing, or the person in your life you are shopping for loves enjoying a good drink, these etched glasses with maps on them are a super cool gift. This amazing Etsy shop makes these glasses for very affordable prices and has options for wine glasses and rocks glasses as well!

#13: Solid Travel Journal

Being a traveler in general, there are so many things you see and you do. Pictures capture a lot of it, but also a travel journal is super important. In many places you travel to, you normally don’t have wifi. You also have a lot of free time to reflect and take it all the sites and sounds of the place you are visiting. I am totally one to not always write down what I did or saw, or memories I made at those places and a solid travel journal will help that. Especially traveling alone, this is a perfect way to occupy time and reflect. These are some great journals I found!

#14: Tassel Keychain

Finding your keys in your bag after coming home from a trip is honestly the hardest thing. This little tassel keychain is perfect to stick in your backpack or travel bag. This is a great stocking stuffer for someone!

#15: Phone Screen Protectors

The majority of travelers always have their phones and protecting that phone is of utmost importance. Buying these tempered glass covers in a pack of two in them will help you in all unexpected travel surprises. Another great stocking stuffer for only $7! Make sure if someone has the fancy new iPhone you grab the right size!

#16: WineSkin Bags

This past summer we visited Napa Valley. We didn’t properly prepare for the fact that we wanted to bring wine home. But, taking the wine back home in a checked bag without properly wrapped could be a disaster. The wineries sold us these bags but for a hefty price. Make sure you buy these before your next trip. If you are headed to France, Italy, or Napa these are perfect.

#17: Eye Mask and Ear-Plugs

Last year I shared my favorite travel pillow. This year I’m going to share my favorite eye mask and ear-plugs. I’ve got two red-eye flights and some huge international flights coming up. I 100% need to get some sleep on them and these are a great investment. I love that it is silk because it doesn’t feel heavy on your head!

$135 at Columbia. Perfect for skiing and hiking

#18: Solid Winter Jacket(s)

I’ve been wanting to make a new investment that I know will last for the new few years. On my list was a nice formal-looking winter jacket, and the other, an outdoorsy winter jacket. These are the two picks I’ve just bought that have been amazing. The classy one was perfect for when I went to NYC. The outdoorsy one is great for my skiing and hiking trip this year! Yes, they cost some money, but the brands are great and the quality is supreme.
